Staying Fit During Covid-19 Lockdown

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Ok so let's be real, this is such a weird and crazy time. As a worker in the creative industry I'm used to going through periods of time with no work, but this doesn't feel the same at all.

It's scary and it's uncertain, I feel like I'm not working towards anything, and to be honest I don't know when/where my next paycheque will come from. I'm not alone. Practically everyone in the world is feeling the effects of covid-19 and what it has bought upon us. It's easy to brush it off as something that will blow over (and i certainly hope it will), but while we wait and others panic by buying up toilet roles and other useless things, I figured there was one thing I could do to help. I'm sharing what I've been doing fitness wise, both pre lockdown and in this current time.

If at the very least, working out gives you a semblance of normalcy, then it's doing its job.

Here are a few links for websites/people to follow that I can vouch for with at-home workouts and other helpful tips.

  • F45 Challenge This is a free app that has recipes & works well with supplementary F45 workouts (which are now streaming daily from each individual gym)

  • Shape Magazine This website has some wonderful and free workouts available as well as a bunch of great articles on health and wellness.

  • Bobby Berk A designer!? I know, I know, it sounds so strange, but he shares some great workouts from his personal trainer, as well as mindfulness and home design tips (which might take your mind off things for a while!)

  • Smiling Mind Phone App Meditation and mindfulness is key at the moment. There's both a free version and upgraded paid version of this app that can help with guided meditation and calming thoughts.

I'd love to hear your tips and tricks for other ways you're coping with the mental stress of what's happening right now. Meanwhile, I'm off to scrub my door handles and kitchen for the fifteenth time this week. Mel
